As you now know RI KÖKO in Bubi —the language of the Bubi people in Equatorial Guinea— means to be in a group. It can be used to refer to working, studying or learning alongside others.
When I was looking for a Bubi name for this series, I asked one of my uncles to send me some words I was interested in —studio being one of them. RI KÖKO RE LAHO. As I was trying to deconstruct it to better understand what meant what, he told me about the meaning of RI KÖKO. Not only did I love it, but also it worked well with the ideas I’m toying with while at the G.A.S Foundation Farm in Ikise (Nigeria).
